Why leave law is
so easy to get wrong

California is one of the few states where multiple leave laws, CFRA, PDL, paid sick leave, and FMLA, can apply to the same employee at the same time, each with different eligibility rules, durations, and job-protection requirements.

Getting the interaction wrong, denying leave an employee was entitled to, miscounting protected time, or mishandling a return-to-work, is one of the most common sources of wage claims and retaliation lawsuits against California employers.

We help you build (or fix) a leave administration process that gets it right every time, whether you're handling your first parental leave request or managing a complex intermittent leave case.

Leave compliance
questions, answered

What's the difference between CFRA and PDL?

PDL covers pregnancy-related disability and applies to nearly all California employers, while CFRA provides broader family and medical leave for eligible employees at businesses with 5+ employees. They can run concurrently or consecutively depending on the situation.

Do small businesses need to worry about leave compliance?

Yes. California's Paid Sick Leave law applies to virtually every employer regardless of size, and PDL applies to employers with 5 or more employees. Even very small companies have real leave law obligations.

Can you help with an active leave case right now?

Yes, we regularly step in mid-case to help sort out eligibility, notice requirements, and next steps on leave situations already in progress.

Do you provide ongoing support, not just one-time audits?

Yes. Many clients work with us on retainer so they have direct access whenever a new leave situation comes up, rather than researching each one from scratch.
